Hugs, Kisses and Canvas

It’s February and love is in the air! That means that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner.

I have never really decorated for Valentine’s Day, but I feel like this is because so much of the decor you see in stores tends to look cheap and tacky. Lots of red. Lots of foil hearts. I decided to try something different.

I love a good, easy DIY and this is definitely one of them. In just a few steps you can add this piece to your home decor.

Here is what you need:

  • Canvas (I used 8″ x 8″)
  • Gold paint
  • X and O stencils
  • paint brush
  • Pencil with eraser or glue stick from a glue gun

First, measure for the center of the canvas and mark where to place your letters.

Paint in the X stencil and then the O stencil. Repeat.

XO_IG2Use a pencil eraser or, if you’re like me and you can’t find a pencil anywhere, a glue stick from a glue gun will work. Dip it in the paint and make dots around the letters. I added more dots closer to the center and then thinned them out toward the ends of the canvas.

All you have left to do is, once the canvas is dry, hang it on your wall or place it on your shelf!

Enjoy!
